People now days know how to spend more than anytime in history. Although the luxury market is exploding; people still tend to mix everything together. According to the documentary, “Bill Cunningham New York”, one thing he mentions about fashion leaders is that they do not need to spend a lot on fashion.  This becomes the concept of the week. Most of people did not realize that we are mix and matching high and low fashion everyday and also these people has always become the fashion leader in the fashion world.

Sarah Jessica Parker, one of the world-renowned fashion leaders in the 21^st century, won her title from the HBO series, “Sex and The City”. The reason why she became the fashion leader is that she would throw on a $500 pair of Manolo Blahniks with a vintage shirt or an expensive handbag with something like a cheap dress to match up as an outfit for a day.

Another fashion leader that are world recognize is Kate Moss, people would copy what she wears everyday. People are looking after what she wears, and then starts to discover that sometime the items that she through on is something very cheap that you can almost find it in a Target or Macy’s.

Since everyone started to realize how to put on low and high fashion, it has become a trend. The reason is because in order to put an outfit together, you will at least need $2000. The cool thing about mix and matching low and high items is that you save a lot of money while staying in style. One thing that Bill Cunningham keeps mentions in the documentary, “fashion is not about the luxury it is about an attitude”. Putting on a limited edition shoes, handbags, and couture still does not mean that you are fashionable; it just means that you have the money to purchase all the luxury. 

Although celebrities where noticed mixing and matching high and low fashion, the truth is celebrities are over exploding the concept by having people copy what they are wearing. Celebrities’ influence is another thing that he mentions in the documentary. Celebrities do not choose most of their own outfits. Celebrities wear whatever their stylist or the brand’s stylist chooses for them. The idea has made him feel very bad because celebrities nowadays do not know how to pick out an outfit.
