The "Royal Bride"- Kate Middleton
As was expected, the next “wedding of the century” (Prince William and Kate Middleton) deeply permeated London Fashion week. Labels like Jaeger London, Mulberry, Betty Jackson, Clements Ribeiro, and dare we forget Issa, were caught in the spell, while Dame Vivienne Westwood, in true punk form, cast her own spell. This season solidified Kate Middleton’s place in the ranks of leading ladies of fashion before her, like Diana and more recently Michelle Obama. She had already taken her place as a fashionista in 2006 when The Daily Telegraph crowned her with the title of “Most Promising Newcomer” (other similar titles followed), now she is destined for icon status. Kate’s strategic blue Issa jersey wrap engagement dress chosen to reflect her diamond and sapphire engagement ring, is already available at net-a-porter.com for $535. Substitutes are springing up everywhere from Victoria’s Secret to yoox.com for $69. The big event is already proving to be a wonderland for numerous Mad Hatters.
