Issa gave more than a wink and a nod to Middleton in the Fall 2011 collection which was dubbed “Celebration” for the labels 10th anniversary and surely in acknowledgement of the royal wedding. Whimsical hats topped waist-cinching draped-jersey “Kate” dress was presented in firecracker red. In addition to the “Kate” dress, Issa’s greatest hits collection also included familiar feather prints. Answering the omnipresent trend, Issa included disco inspired prints and maxi dresses. Betty Jackson picked up on Middleton’s use of floral prints borrowing the plunging V-neck and similar cinched-waist silhouettes in maxi and proper below the knee lengths. At Clements Ribeiro the royal blue of the “Kate” dress was widely used. Mulberry also drew inspiration from Kate’s floral and jersey. Dame Vivienne Westwood’ collection was also based on the royals, but from the vantage point of Lewis Caroll’s bumbling Red Queen and White Queen. Incase her visual comments weren’t enough, her feelings on the matter were made clear when she said, “I would have loved to dress Kate Middleton but I have to wait until she kind of catches up a bit somewhere with style.
