Beauty Trend-Cosemtic

Looking at the numbers paints a clear picture; consumers are obsessed with the appearance of their skin.  In the U.S. market alone, billions are spent each year on color cosmetics and skin care.  Billions more are spent on plastic surgery and less invasive treatments like Botox and fillers which are injected into the skin.  It is hard to find a concise number on how big the market is, but globally it is safe to guesstimate around $60 billion.  With so much money to be made the competition is beyond fierce.  Trends are the major drivers.  Colored cosmetics are driven by ever shifting palettes with just as many finishes.  Skin care and treatments are performance and ingredients driven.  Plastic surgery and injectables are driven by an, though far from new, obsession with looking youthful.  Celebrity plays a role in the wide spread popularity.  In the digital age, consumers are informed about new trends at break-neck speed
Color Cosmetics Trends

Like other industries, colored cosmetics, have a trend for everyone.  This season’s neutral look is paralleled by a bold and bright trend.  Carrying over from last from last year, pastel eye make-up is still trendy look.  This year, instead of a matte finish, the pastel eye is shimmery, but not glittery.  The colors are blue, green, pink, orange, red, and gold.  Black mascara adds definition.  Smokey eyes have had a long run, but they are still a hot trend.  Finish the look with a gold eye-liner.  Designers like Dior, Derek Lam, and Jason Wu bumped it up a notch with technicolor eye shadow contrasted with bare skin and a pale lip.
